The Perfect Ending.....

It was a birthday celebration weekend which included a Friday afternoon trip to Philly, taking in the sites of the "City of Brotherly Love", it was sandwiched on Saturday with an evening of dinner and fun at a local chill spot, and it ended with a casual trip to Malcolm X Park. It was the perfect ending to an already great weekend.....The park was nice and it's been a minute since I've been out there. I can still feel the sweltering April sun beating on my back and feet and hear the sounds of the Sunday drummers in my spirit....The sweet, savory smell of Nag champa incense, ministered to my senses, (ummmm) and the rhythm of each beat spoke to the different characteristics of who I am. The drum, the flute, the cow bells and more.....Even when my body stopped moving my soul still stirred.

I not only heard the music, but I could feel it...An event? Not at all, it was an experience.
As the dancers swayed back and forth the bitter sweet nectar (ok sweat) that fell from their pours to the ground, even it dropped to the beat of the drum.

It had the potential to take you to another level of some sort if you let it....

Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asian they were all playing their own rhythm and it made sense when they all united to make one sound. It was like each beat appreciated the next. Can a beat like people be biased or prejudice of another? No. They simply accepted each other as they were differences and all..They worked together to achieve a common purpose...To bring satisfaction to the soul.....

It was nice. That's all
