LIFE for ME...........

I'm having a Langston Hughes moment again...........
He wrote another poem that I love and quote more often than not, called Mother to Son. In this poem, he writes about a mother speaking to her son about life's experiences and uses the metaphor of a crystal stair. Would you like to hear it? Here it go.....

Well, son, I'll tell you: Life for me ain't been no crystal stair. It's had tacks in it, And splinters, And boards torn up, And places with no carpet on the floor—Bare. But all the time I'se been a-climbin' on, And reachin' landin's, And turnin' corners, And sometimes goin' in the dark Where there ain't been no light. So, boy, don't you turn back. Don't you set down on the steps.'Cause you finds it's kinder hard. Don't you fall now—For I'se still goin', honey, I'se still climbin', And life for me ain't been no crystal stair.

Funny enough, when people ask how I'm doing, my comical response will often be "Life for me ain't been no crystal stair"

I said this one day to a friend and her response was: "Well that's ok crystal stairs are impractical anyway" ----- That was a word to live by.
