I Applaud the Effort but. . .
Friday, January 27, 2006 Edit This 0 Comments »I was driving in to work this morning and while listening to the news on the radio, they talked about how in Feb, public schools nationally will host the 10th annual National African American Parent Involvement Day.
This was the 1st I've ever heard of this and while this is great, and I do applaud and support the effort (Lord knows parents need to involved in the lives of their children as it relates to education) but why did it have to come to this?
I think on the other side of the spectrum that it's kind of sad that one day has to be set aside to encourage parents to do something that's really their duty. I understand some parents have to work 2 and 3 jobs to keep food on the table and I also understand that some parents actually need a push like this to be involved (because the hope of this program is that this will encourage the parents to stay involved) but this actually disturbed me when I heard about it.
Nevertheless, we need to be in prayer for all our children and their parents.

Anyway, just my morning thoughts. Have a great weekend!
