Can I Get a Jump Please?

This morning I was going to take the train to work because my car wouldn't start. The car's battery, alternator or something needs to be fixed. I was running late because the comforts of my bed wouldn't let go, so instead of taking the train, I decided to call my girlfriend and have her come over to give me a jump on her way into work. My thoughts were that it would be better to have my car at work because there were lots of people there who could give me a jump. Then, I thought that after Bible study I could get a jump from someone to get me home. The cycle would then continue......

I knew a couple weeks back that there was something going on with my car and I should have taken it to the dealership then, but I was being cheap.....

Quickly after I had these thoughts the Lord spoke to my spirit, " eventually you'll have to get the problem fixed, you can't keep getting jumps"

This wasn't just a word about my car it also ministered to me because that's how it is with the issues of life. Often times we don't want to have them "fixed" or we don't want to resolve or deal with them. We'd rather take the quick fix, "the jump." That will usually get us through for a little while, but again, the same issues will arise until we deal with them.

The life lesson for me was, that instead of getting those jumps that only take me so far anyway, I need to allow God to asses the issues in my life and fix them. This only happens through consistent prayer and fasting and as we submit to God and His plan for our lives.

That's my little nugget for the day. And if you're wondering, I did take my car to the dealership this morning. (:
