For Who He Is . . .

I often hear those who are leading worship say that we should worship God for who He is, and not for what He has done. I think I am confused by that statement because to me (unless I'm missing something) who God is, is all tied up and connected to what He has done and vice verse. For instance I worship God:
Because by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross I have received salvation.
Because he is merciful
Because He is forgiving
Because He has gracious
Because He is slow to anger
Because He loves me
because He is faithful
because He is unchanging
Because He is Holy
etc. . . etc. .
All of these things are in some way tied to what God has done and what He continues to do for me. Unless, (a light just went off)
when they say that they are really referring to the tangible gifts that He gives (i.e. money, car, home etc.) I guess if that's the case then that statement makes more sense to me.
I dunno, sometimes I will toil over some of the most menial statements. I guess I answered my own question...

1 What's on Your Write Mind?:
Yeah, when that happens I call it "talking myself into a revelation". Sounds like you've done just that. :)
