90 Years and Still Kicking
Tuesday, January 08, 2008 Edit This 3 Comments »I'd like to give a big birthday shout out to my Grannie who we grandchildren affectionately call Mama. She turned 90 on Sunday and is a beautiful as a the sun rising over the river. As I listen to people's response when I tell them she is 90, they are sooo ecstatic and I'm like "yeah she's 90 ok.." As I think about my response to that, I guess I sort of take my grandmother and her being here for granted to an extent. I mean, I do call her often and check in on her but now that she hit this milestone, I think I will learn to appreciate her more. After all, I am her # 1 :)

3 What's on Your Write Mind?:
Go Granny! I absolutely agree that those of us who still have our grandparents living sometimes take for granted the wisdom and experiences that they are able to share with us. We should love on our elders as much as time and distance allows. Within the last five years I've loss my paternal grandmother and maternal grandfather, however I count myself blessed because I still have my maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather with me. I spent a good deal of time with my grandfather during the terminal illness that claimed his life and realized that even in his dying he had a lesson to teach me, as long as I took the opportunity to learn.
Peace.
Word! I Agree! thanks for stopping by and welcome to blogger land!
Now that is what I hope to do one day...reach my 90th birthday and still look so amazing!! How special for you to still have her in your life :)
